The LEGO Braille Bricks have arrived in Ireland. Schools and education centres can order them through the National Centre for the Blind for Ireland. The concept is a play-based methodology that teaches braille to children who are blind or vision impaired. Newly launched, the toolkit comprises LEGO bricks adjusted to correspond to the Braille alphabet. Each LEGO brick also has a printed letter or character to ensure the tool is inclusive, allowing sighted teachers and students to play on equal terms with a child with vision impairment. A selection of signature LEGO brick colours was chosen to ensure colour contrast and allow for a playful learning experience in an inclusive setting.
