The Irish Guide Dogs core purpose is to enable people with sight loss and families of children with autism to lead better lives, become more independent and more mobile. In addition to providing guide dogs and related training, the organisation provide a range of other services such as orientation and mobility training with long canes, independent living skills residential courses, gardening skills courses and the Next Step Programme which aims to equip young people who are blind or vision impaired with the skills to manage the transition to life in college.
